Group Calling And Low Light Mode May Arrive Soon On Google Duo

Google is now testing group calling and low light mode on its most popular video calling platform ‘Google Duo’.

Since the group calling feature is very much impressive both on WhatsApp and Apple’s FaceTime but the number of people can join a video call at a time is more on Apple’s FaceTime which is 32.

It seems like Google’s resolutions to make 2019 more exciting for its users.

As we have seen in the past few days, Google continuously bringing new updates on its services like Google My Business, Google Map, Messages, Google Fit etc.

Now the giant has shown its move towards the most popular video calling app Google Duo, which recently crossed the mark of 1 billion downloads on Google play store.

As the report came out in middle from the source Android Police that Google is now testing ‘group calling’ and ‘low light mode’ on an unreleased version of Duo.

Group calling which is one of the most awaited features on Duo since its launch.

Group calling is kind of feature which most of the platform like Apple’s FaceTime, Skype, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp are already offering.

So, Google wanted something like that on Duo to give head to head competition to these platforms.

Now the feature is on the way to come out on Google Duo but it only supports up to eight people at a time on a group call including the person who started the call.

If you want to make a group video call on Google Duo, you first need to create a group with the contacts you wish to video chat.

After that, you can start a video call with all at the same time but the number of participants can’t be exceed than eight.

As per the report from Android police, it doesn’t look like you can add any member of the group in the middle of a video call as of now.

After the update arrives, you can see a group icon at the bottom right corner of a video call.

Tapping on the icon will pop up another window which brings you the list of group members.

You can also create multiple groups which will appear in your contacts list present at the top right corner for easy access.

Another useful feature which Google is testing on Duo is the “Low light Mode”.

When you are in a room or in a dark place and making a video call on Google Duo, a pop up will app asking you to switch on low light mode.

If you do so, it will automatically adjust your video in dark environments so others can see you better.

It is not clear that how this feature is going to work but that doesn’t matter, as it is a very useful one.

Although no official announcement has been made about these features when they will be available globally, we can expect that they will be available soon.

Because it is clear that Google is aiming to make Duo more competitive with other apps who are giving the video calling facility.
