The global smartphone ecosystem has witnessed crazy specifications and even crazy designs last year. 2018 was the year of “notch display”. We have seen every possible type of notch designs from small to large.
While most of the manufacturers are after the notch design and try to implement the selfie camera inside it. Vivo is one of the pioneer manufacturers that came with a whole new concept of moving selfie camera in Vivo NEX. Back of the spotlight, Vivo has been doing homework on the pop-up selfie camera. The result is in front of us. Vivo V15 Pro.
Vivo V15 Pro detail features
The new Vivo V15 Pro which was launched in India on 20th February. The device gives the feeling of flagship grade with its 32MP pop-up selfie camera, triple rear cameras on the back including a 48MP sensor.
Let’s see all the details and full specification of Vivo V15 Pro.
The Vivo V15 Pro is quite slim with a shiny body and rounded edges. It sits comfortably in the hand although it has a shiny finish. The back and the frame are made from plastic only with a glossy finish. The body dimension is 157.3 x 74.7 x 8.2 mm. It feels lighter as compared to other devices in the segment. The weight of the phone is 185 g.
It has a notchless 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display having an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The buttons are in the appropriate place so that you can easily use it. In the right side of the phone, there is a power/lock and unlock and volume up and down button.
The left side of the phone contains an additional button which can be used to active Google Assistant and Vivo’s Jovi assistant. Vivo has given a dedicated memory card slot on this side.
On the top side of the phone, there is a portion for the pop-up selfie camera to come out. Thanks to Vivo for the headphone jack. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack slot at the top.
On the bottom side of the phone, there is a slot for SIM. You can place 2 nano SIM in it. Next, to the SIM slot, there is a primary mic. On the center of the bottom, you can find a micro USB port. It is a bit disappointing and we are expecting for the USB type-c port in this price range. A speaker grill is also there to fire out sound at decent volume.
The back side of the phone is very attractive and shiny. Vivo uses Spectrum Ripple Design” on this phone. The back is very reflective and unravels a pattern when light falls on it with some angles. The blue variant of Vivo V15 Pro creates a centrifugal pattern as the mixture of grains and ridges.
On the back side, there is a triple rear camera setup with LED flash. The camera units are vertically aligned.
Vivo V15 pro has a notchless 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display. Vivo has finally switched to the AMOLED display from its traditional LCD display. The smartphone has very small bezels on the sizes. The side frame is just 1.75mm while the top side is merely 2.22mm. It has 91% screen-to-body ratio.
Unfortunately, the company doesn’t give any hints about the protection on the display. So we assume that there is no Gorilla Glass on it.
The display is bright and vivid having 1080 x 2316 pixels with 400 ppi pixel density. It also houses the 5th generation in-display fingerprint scanner. The company claims that this fingerprint scanner is faster than the previous generation and more secure also. According to the company it takes only 0.37 seconds to unlock the smartphone.
Camera and sensor
The rear camera unit has a triple camera setup. The smartphone features a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle sensor, and a 5MP depth sensor. By default, the main sensor takes 12MP photos.
The AI scene detection is there to improve the saturation of the image. There are AI Super Night Scene, AI Face Beauty, AI Super Wide-Angle Camera, and AI Body Shaping modes.
The USP of this model is the 32MP selfie camera In the past many tech geeks have complained about the durability of the motorize pop-up unit. Vivo guarantees that the camera unit can bear a force of up to 120kg. It can be opened and drawn back into its cavity at least 300,000 times. This means that the mechanism should stay as it is without any wear for eight years if you open and close it 100 times a day. The pop-up camera is a great way to avoid the notch phones.
Along with the in-display fingerprint sensor, Vivo V15 Pro also includes a gyroscope, accelerometer, distance sensor, electronic compass, ambient light sensor.
Processor and performances
Vivo V15 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675. The chip holds eight cores that newly designed Kryo 460 Silver and Gold CPU and is made on the 11nm process. Adreno 612 GPU is there.
The benchmark scores are quite impressive overall but as you know the real-world performance will differ. It is interesting to see the performance in day to day use.
In terms of raw CPU performance, Snapdragon 675 slots between the Snapdragon 710 and the Snapdragon 845. You can enjoy high-end games like PUBG and do multitasking as well.
The Vivo V15 Pro runs Funtouch OS 9.0 completely based on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. If you are familiar with Vivo’s own Funtouch OS then you will not face any difficulty to operate.
There is no shortcuts or toggles option alongside the notifications like all previous version. You have to slide from the bottom to upward to open up the quick toggles. Swiping from the top will show your recent notifications.
Every manufacturer is using custom skin these days so Vivo also used its own gesture-based navigation system.
Battery and connectivity
The Vivo V15 Pro backed with a 3,700mAh battery under the hood. It is quite odd to see this battery capacity according to the price range.
It is packed with Vivo’s so-called Dual-Engine fast charging. The 18W charger comes with the package take 30 minutes to charge 0 – 38%.
In terms of connectivity, Vivo V15 Pro include a micro USB 2.0 port, 3.5mm audio jack, 4G VoLTE, GPS, AGPS, NFC, GLONASS, Bluetooth v5, and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
RAM and storage
Vivo launched V15 Pro in two different variants.
The base variant comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
